Bingo Little is a fictional character in the Jeeves and Wooster series of novels by P.G.
Wodehouse. He first appears in the novel Jeeves and the King’s Diamonds (1937).
Bingo Little is a small, wizened man with a cherubic face and an ingratiating manner. He is the proprietor of a small bingo parlour in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
Bingo Little is endlessly happy, and his only ambition is to make everyone else as happy as he is. He is especially fond of children, and enjoys playing games with them.
Bingo Little first appears in Jeeves and the King’s Diamonds as an unwelcome guest at the home of Bertie Wooster and Jeeves. Bertie has been appointed to deliver a diamond necklace to the King of Yugoslavia, but has been delayed by a snowstorm in London.
Bingo Little offers to take Bertie on as his passenger in his taxi, and the two men end up spending the night together at Bingo Little’s bingo parlour. Bertie finds Bingo Little delightful company, and they spend the night playing games and laughing together.
Bingo Little reappears in Jeeves Takes a Trip, when he accompanies Jeeves on his trip to America. Again, he proves to be a congenial companion.
When Jeeves falls ill after their arrival in New York City, Bingo Little takes care of him until he can be hospitalized.
In The Midsummer Marriage, Bingo Little accompanies Jeeves on his wedding trip to Aunt Agatha’s estate in Midsummer Isle. Again, he proves to be an enjoyable travelling companion.
When Aunt Agatha suspects that Jeeves has been masquerading as her nephew George Woolfson all along, Bingo Little comes to his defence and proves himself an invaluable friend.
In The Unpleasantness at Blandings Castle, Bingo Little plays a minor role. He is present at dinner when Lord Emsworth insults Jeeves, but does not participate in any of the ensuing hostilities.
In The Financier of Flanders Street, Bingo Little once again plays a minor role. He helps Jeeves track down a missing ring belonging to Lord Ickenham, but does not participate in any of the ensuing hostilities.
In The Amazing Adventure of Silk Stocking Billiards, Bingo Little again plays a minor role. He helps Jeeves track down Silk Stocking Billiards champion Willie Garvin, but does not participate in any of the ensuing hostilities.
In The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Bingo Little once again plays a minor role. He accompanies Bertie Wooster on his quest to find Edwin Drood Jr.
