The state of Michigan has been hit hard by the recession, and many businesses have been forced to close their doors. One of these businesses is the bingo hall. In Michigan, bingo halls are considered an amusement business, and as such are not subject to the same economic conditions as other businesses. This means that bingo halls can reopen as long as they are in compliance with all of the state’s regulations. In order to reopen a bingo hall, the owner must first apply for a gaming license from the Michigan Lottery and Gaming Control Board (GLCB).
The GLCB will then determine if the hall is compliant with all of the state’s regulations. If the hall is deemed compliant, it will then be issued a gaming license. The GLCB will also require the owner to pay a $5,000 renewal fee every year. Finally, the GLCB will require the owner to comply with any new regulations that may be put into place.
