While it is difficult to track down hard data on the prevalence of bingo in the Commonwealth, anecdotal evidence suggests that it is not as widespread as once thought. There are a few bingo clubs in Virginia, but they are not well-known and operate mostly out of private homes.
It is possible that the activity does take place in some smaller towns, but it would be difficult to know for sure.
Some people argue that bingo is not a true form of gambling because the player never knows what cards will be drawn. Others contend that since there is no money at stake, bingo is not really gambling at all.
In any event, it seems unlikely that Virginia will ever see a resurgence of legalized bingo.
