The legality of bingo in Ohio is a topic of debate. Some argue that it is a form of gambling, while others claim that it is a form of social entertainment. The Ohio Bingo Association insists that the game is not gambling, but the state’s attorney general disagrees. In 2006, the Ohio State legislature passed a bill legalizing bingo in nonprofit organizations.
However, the state attorney general has the power to veto any law passed by the legislature and he has not yet exercised this power with respect to bingo. In 2009, a group of Ohio churches sued the state over its 2006 bingo law. The lAWSuit was dismissed in 2012 and the church groUPS were ordered to pay the state’s legal fees. There is currently no law in Ohio regulating bingo.
