Bingo is legal in North Carolina as long as it is conducted in accordance with state law. The state statute that governs bingo is N.C.G.S.
§ 130A-191. This statute allows bingo to be conducted by charitable organizations as long as the proceeds from the sale of bingo tickets are used exclusively for charitable purposes. It is also permissible for religious organizations to conduct bingo games, provided that the proceeds are used exclusively for religious purposes. There are a few restrictions on the types of bingo games that can be conducted, but these restrictions are generally based on the age of participants and do not apply to games with mechanical or electronic devices that enable players to make Bingo selections.
