Bingo is not currently legal in Massachusetts, but there is a bill currently in the state legislature that would legalize it. The bill has been introduced by Representative James McGovern and has the support of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. If passed, Bingo would become legal in Massachusetts on January 1, 2020. There are a few stipulations that would need to be met before Bingo would be legalized in the state.
The game would need to be played with paper cards and not electronic devices, bingo halls would need to have at least 80% of their space dedicated to non-bingo games, and players must be at least 21 years old. If all of these conditions are met, the commission will then review the game for safety and regulation purposes. If all goes well, bingo would then become legal in Massachusetts on January 1, 2020.
