Bingo is a dog in Riverdale, but he is also a person. In the first episode of the show, we see that he has a human name – Clifford – and that he is in a relationship with Betty.
Betty seems to be the only one who truly understands Bingo, and she seems to genuinely care for him. Bingo is also very protective of her, and he fiercely defends her when she is attacked by some thugs.
In the later episodes of the season, we see that Bingo has a dark side. He begins to act out in aggressive ways, and he becomes very violent.
He even assaults Betty, which leads to their break-up. It is clear that Bingo is not really in control of his own behaviour, and that he is motivated by anger and revenge rather than love or care for Betty.
So ultimately, Bingo is both a dog and a person – just like everyone in Riverdale!.
