Beano is a comic book series that was published by DC Comics from 1948 to 2006. It is a spin-off of the character Bingo, which in turn was a spin-off of the character DC Comics’s first superhero, Superman.
The series centers on the adventures of Beano and his friends.
Beano is most closely identified with the title character, a bumbling but lovable kid who loves to play games and make mischief. Beano’s sidekick is Thimble, a diminutive dwarf with an IQ of 225.
Other characters in the series include Doofus Dopey, Bashful Beaver, Grumble Gulp and Snorey Sneezy.
The series ended with issue No. 600 in 2006. Many readers were UPSet about this announcement, as it came as a surprise after 52 years of publication.
However, DC Comics has since announced that it will be publishing a new series of Beano comics beginning in February 2007. So far, no title or creative team has been announced for this new series.
While there are many similarities between Beano and Bingo – two comic book series about kids who love to play games and make mischief – there are also some significant differences. For example, Beano is much funnier than Bingo, and its characters are more diverse than those in Bingo.
Additionally, while Bingo revolves around stories about school and friends, Beano often features stories involving magic or monsters. So while Beano may be similar to Bingo in some ways, it is definitely not the same comic book series.
