How Did the Word Bingo Originate?

Bingo is a word that originates from the game of chance, Bingo. The game of Bingo is played with a board with 25 squares. Players take turns drawing numbers from a drum, and calling out the number on the board in front of them.

If a player calls out a number that is already called, or if the number drawn is not one of the numbers on the board, then that player gets a point. The first player to get 100 points wins the game.

The word Bingo was first recorded in 1734 and it is believed that it derived from the French word bingo, which means to clap or to sound a bell.
