What Was the Original Name of Bingo?

In 1765, a French mathematician, Pierre Charles L’Enfant, created a game he called “Bingo”. A variant of the game was played in the United States at least as early as 1821. In 1933, William J. Carroll and Dr.

James J. White of the World War I veteran’s hospital in East Orange, New Jersey, developed a variant they called “Pingo”. Bingo was officially adopted in the United States in 1938.
